Sad Commentary When Democrats Have to Defend Themselves Against a "Democratic" President and Capitol Hill DINOs

I've said it so many times that it sounds like a broken record, but repetitio est mater studiorum...repetition is the mother of learning, so I'll continue repeating it.  The president is a DINO and many (if not most) of the "Dem" elected officials in Congress are DINOs.

If Obama is supposedly a Democratic president and there is {soon to be was in the House) a Democratic majority in Congress, then why all the anti-common good, anti-worker, other anti-real Democratic values, GOP echo crap coming from the White House and Dems on Capitol Hill?

Because the White House is a DINO stronghold and Capitol Hill is full of DINOs.

Others are commenting on this pathetic state of affairs.

Digby at Hullabaloo on the (Obama created) Catfood Commission:
"It appears today that the Catfood Commission is dead on arrival as expected....It's always been a goalpost moving exercise and a way to put social security on the menu. Social Security isn't even part of the deficit, so the fact that they rather clumsily tacked it on anyway should be a tip off.

"There are many progressive initiatives that liberal interest groups could be spending their time and money working on rather than defending the social safety net from people who would destroy it. It's a sad comment indeed that it was necessary to mobilize like this under a Democratic president and congressional majority.
(Underline added.)

And Atrios at Eschaton:
".....the fact that right before an election the Professional Left had to spend their time worrying about defending Social Security given that we had a Democratic president and huge Dem majorities in the House was a complete travesty."

Mike Konzcal at New Deal 2.0 posits the question:
"What if Obama prioritizes bondholders over workers?

"What if Obama's federal pay freeze, for example, is a deliberate move to align himself with banks?  He’s asking for the middle class to suffer first, before bankers and before the richest, without asking for anything in return.

"When people refer to this as self-defeating or a political miscalculation, they are assuming that Obama isn’t weak on core liberal values, or that his version of liberalism isn’t far different than what was expected, or that he doesn’t think this is worth fighting for.

"They [Obama, his administration and other armadillo "centrists" aka DINOs] put bondholders over unions and public workers."

This president is certainly not a real Democrat nor are many of the elected members of Congress with a D after their names real Democrats.

They may fool the real Democratic base some of the time, they may fool some deliberately myopic Demorats all of the time, but, dammit, they can't fool real Democrats all of the time.

Or, to paraphrase Paul Rosenberg at Open Left, quit defending and/or praising Obama when he tells you to poke out both your eyes so you don't have to choose between believing him or believing your "lying" eyes.
