Obama's DOJ Continues To Protect Bushite Criminals and Deserves Every Bit of the Derision It Receives
Torture is a crime. To write legal memos approving torture and defying rules of law like the Geneva Conventions is complicity in a crime.
However, in the United States, after eight years of the criminal, anything goes, Bush administration, justice depends on who you are; accountability is non-existent if you have been part of the Bushite regime.
And Obama's Department of Justice is continuing this flouting of the law by protecting Bushite criminals.
This administration is complicit in disdaining the rule of law.
From the NYTimes: "An internal Justice Department inquiry has concluded that Bush administration lawyers committed serious lapses of judgment in writing secret memorandums authorizing brutal interrogations but that they should not be prosecuted, according to government officials briefed on its findings.
"But they would stop short of the criminal referral sought by some human rights advocates, who have suggested that the lawyers could be prosecuted as part of a criminal conspiracy to violate the anti-torture statute. President Obama has said the Justice Department would have to decide whether the lawyers who authorized the interrogation methods should face charges, while pledging that interrogators would not be investigated or prosecuted for using techniques that the lawyers said were legal."
This inquiry began by a criminal Bush regime in 2004, is a travesty of justice. How many of these unethical, cover Bush's posterior, GOP politicized Bushite lawyers are still serving at the DOJ, doing their destructive work? Why did the Obama DOJ continue with and apparently rubber stamp this debased "inquiry" and no prosecution by Bush leftovers in a dishonorable, dishones DOJ? What the hell is the matter with AG Eric Holder? He is certainly not representing the American people.
There are too many lawyers serving in Congress, and too many lawyers in the executive branch, just as there were in the Clinton era. Perhaps Shakespeare was right; lawyers deserve the derision they receive, especially those in Washington, since they have no respect for the law or equality under the law. And that goes for the Obama administration.

"The report by the Office of Professional Responsibility, an internal ethics unit within the Justice Department, is also likely to ask state bar associations to consider possible disciplinary action, which could include reprimands or even disbarment, for some of the lawyers involved in writing the legal opinions, the officials said.
"The conclusions of the 220-page draft report are not final and have not yet been approved by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. The officials said that it is possible that the final report might be subject to further revision but that they did not expect major alterations in its main findings or recommendations.
