Dishonesty, Dishonor, Disaster: the Watchwords of the Republican Party
| The hypocrisy of Republicans and their party knows no bounds. Modern Republicanism has always been the corporatist party of government of, by, and for the wealthy few, the rest are on their own. Almost every contemporary Republican administration in the 20th century was a failure, filled with scandal, crime, and GOP induced disasters. Since it became a right wing party during Dubya the Shrub's eight years of trampling the Constitution dictatorship, it morphed into a party of complete, constant dishonesty and dishonor. What is amazing is that generations of some of the American electorate either are so masochistic or continue to be so clueless about Republican history in this country that they still elect members of the GOP to political office, a party that has always been a total failure at governing and has a long record of screwing the American people. Here is another example of GOP hypocrisy from Think Progress: "...now that they are out of power and President Obama has the ability to appoint judges, Republicans are threatening a filibuster of judges if Obama doesn’t appease them. In a letterto the White House yesterday, all 41 Senate Republicans “requested that Obama respect the Senate’s constitutional role in reviewing judicial nominees by seeking their consultation about potential nominees from their respective states.” "As RightWingWatch points out, it’s “amazing” how soon after trying to “blow up the Senate with the ‘nuclear option’ in order to get rid of the filibuster, the Republicans in the Senate are now demanding a veto over the President’s nominees and threatening to filibuster if they don’t get their way.” "But the Senate GOP’s filibuster flip-flop should come as no surprise. In fact, their opposition to judicial filibusters during the Bush years was itself a change." |
