Worst Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid

Here is what I wrote early last year about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who helped pass the egregious FISA bill that protected the criminal Bush regime and telecoms retroactively from illegal warrantless wiretap surveillance.

"No telecom retroactive immunity for warrantless surveillance. Telecoms knew that they needed warrants before doing Bush's bidding.  They broke the law.  Bush and his administration also broke the law and they want cover now.

"Unfortunately, this hypocritical, imperial executive attempt by the Bushites to again defy the Constitution and rule of law was steered onto the Senate floor by none other than the Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid."

"Harry Reid is some or all of the following: incompetent, a closet Republican, or, like Bushites, doesn't believe in the Constitution,  In any case, he should not be the Democratic Majority Leader any longer, despite his last minute attempts to try and overcome the justified anger of pro-Constitution Americans."

That was in January of 2008 and Reid continues to be one of the worst Democratic Senate Majority "Leaders" ever.

Forever stumbling, bumbling, and caving, Reid has now made a hash of the Burris-Blagojevich kerfuffle and shown himself, again, to be an example of failed Democratic leadership.

Now he's championing former Alaska senator Ted Stevens, a corrupt member of the US Senate convicted on seven felony counts of lying on Senate disclosure forms to conceal illegal home renovations and other gifts.

Jane Hamsher at Firedoglake says this about Harry Reid:  "....Worst. Political. Instincts. Ever.

"The true story of the Roland Burris saga is not, despite what Roland Burris may think, Roland Burris. It's the complete mission fail on the part of the Senate Majority Leader, acting with the support of Barack Obama, to handle a relatively simple matter without blowing it up into a media catastrophe. Now Obama is having to back-peddle, everyone involved looks stupid and the rest of us are left wondering how this guy is going to shepherd desperately needed change through the log-jammed Senate.

"Reid is now saying that he'll do what he should have done from the start -- let the court decide whether Burris's certification is legal without the Secretary of State's signature rather than huff and puff about an affront to his ego. Since Jesse White always said his signature wasn't necessary, I'm not preparing myself for any big surprises.

"Anybody paying 10% attention could've seen this coming down Sepulveda. The question is, why couldn't Reid?"

This is supposed to be the Democratic leader in the US Senate but he is apparently more interested in maintaining a secretive, exclusive misplaced collegiality of a millionaires' club rather than respecting and promoting competence, ethics, honesty, and integrity.

Which explains what I wrote in November?  "Yesterday, some of the members of the US Senate showed that they have lost their integrity and honor.

"To give a corrupt, convicted on seven felony counts, member of the exclusive millionaires' club, Ted Stevens, a standing ovation as he leaves office is reprehensible and a disgrace.

"And for Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to offer glowing statements is a travesty.  How many senators chose to skip this inappropriate, disgusting performance of praise to a crook and keep their integrity intact?  They could have taken him out for a drink or had a private party but instead, some hypocritical senators chose to publically sing hosannas to a convicted, crooked senator.

"Those Democrats who participated in this dishonorable exercise should be challenged in the primaries, Harry Reid for certain.  None have a sense of propriety and respect for the rule of law [even though like Reid most are lawyers...that should tell you something...some even former prosecutors], the American people and the dignity of their office."

The incompetent or deliberately clueless pseudo Democrat, Harry Reid, should resign his Majority leadership position.  He is incapable of leading the Senate during Obama's administration.
