Colin Powell Tries To Redeem Himself; Only Comments About Muslims Help

Collin Powell tried to redeem his self-absorbed and questionable history today by endorsing Obama.

While possibly trying to assuage his conscience about his complicit role in the illegal Iraq invasion with his Obama paean, he actually did some good by talking about the un-American hatred levelled at Muslims.

It is a terrible, un-American hate-filled vitriol incited by the McSame-Palindrone campaign.

McSame is guilty of this, ironically, when claiming to decry the venomous attacks he and Palin the Parrot have unleashed among their right wing supporters.

As Sam Stein at Huffinton Post reminds us: "McCain was again pressed about Obama's "other-ness" and again he refused to play ball. "I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab."

"No, ma'am," McCain said several times, shaking his head in disagreement. "He's a decent, family man, [a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about."

By implying that Arabs are not decent, family people he insulted all Arabs including Arab Americans and showed his bigoted mind set.

And GottaLaff at Political Carnival hoists McSame on his own petard and offers a tribute to those Americans soldiers who are Muslim and gave their lives for this nation.

"Colin Powell had something to say about those evil, terrrorist, scary Muslims... You know the ones, the very Muslims who died in service for the United States, our country, their country, Gramm-pa McCain's/IWRC* Palin's country:

First off, Powell said, Obama is a Christian. But more to the point, he said, "is there something wrong with being a Muslim?" He worried about the message the GOP was sending to a hypothetical 7-year-old Muslim American who thinks he can grow up and be president some day.

He then referenced a photograph he saw in a recent magazine photo essay -- presumably a New Yorker photo essay from the photographer Platon -- showing the mother of a fallen Muslim-American soldier clutching her son's grave. (See the photo HERE.)

The reference was to Specialist Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan (1987 - 2007) who earned the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star in Iraq, and was killed at age 20. Learn more about Khan HERE & or HERE.

"We have got to stop polarizing," Powell said.

"He died for you, Gramm-pa/IWRC. What did you ever do for him?"

*"In what respect, Charlie?"
