Roman Catholic bishops are cleverly dictating to their flocks how to vote in this election.  The only issue they care anything about is defeating any candidate who believes in women's reproductive rights.

 

Most of these older, primarily white men with spectacles (check out photos at a bishops' conference sometime) lost all moral authority to tell anyone anything after their and/or their collegues  horrific roles in concealing clergy pedophiles and transferring them from parish to parish or diocese to diocese where they continued their crimes or preying on children.  Yes, these immoral bishops covered up sex crimes against children to protect the church.  How un-Christ like! 

 

Many dioceses declared bankruptcy because of the hundreds of millions in court judgments paid to victims of these pedophile priests protected by their bishops, for exampleLos Angeles $660 million.

 

A Philadelphia grand jury found the archdiocese and its officials guilty (the bishops, etc.) for aiding and abetting the heinous crimes against children, but these pharisees got off on a technicality.

 

Yet, they continue to rant to those sheeplike individuals who can't think for themselves and wait for these morally bankrupt bishops to tell them what to think and what to do.

 

From Talk2Action: "Two Texas bishops have released a letter informing their congregants whom they can and can't vote for and remain faithful members of the Roman Catholic Church.

"The missive by Bishop Kevin Farrell of the Diocese of Dallas and Bishop Kevin Vann of the Diocese of Fort Worth is being read in all Catholic churches in the area. It states in part, "To vote for a candidate who supports the intrinsic evil of abortion or `abortion rights' when there is a morally acceptable alternative would be to cooperate in the evil - and, therefore, morally impermissible."

"Americans United Executive Director Barry W. Lynn said the bishops are walking a fine line.

" 'This is clearly an attempt on the part of these bishops to do an end-run around the federal tax law ban on electioneering by churches,' Lynn told the Morning News.

"Farrell and Vann are not the only bishops deliberately striding into a legal gray area this election season. A similar letter was issued by Bishop Joseph F. Martino of Scranton, Pa., and was read in churches Oct. 4-5. In the letter, Martino insisted that faithful Catholics must vote solely on the issue of abortion and not support any pro-choice candidates.

Martino went even further, adding, "[P]ublic officials who are Catholic and who persist in public support for abortion and other intrinsic evils should not partake in or be admitted to the sacrament of Holy Communion. As I have said before, I will be vigilant on this subject."

Wonder what His Vigilance Martino would do about Sister Cecilia Gaudette who, according to the BBC, "last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama.

"Although hard of hearing, she keeps herself informed by reading newspapers and watching TV at the convent.

" 'I'm encouraged by Senator Obama,' she says.

" 'I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern,' she adds."

His Excellent Vigilantes, Martino, Farrell and Vann would probably excommunicate the 106 year old nun if he could.  Now that really would be another true Christian act, Bishop Martino. Pity the people in your diocese. You should all crawl back under a rock.
