Bad Bailout Bill Goes Down To Defeat by Ineffective Leadership and Lying Republicans

It was a bad bailout bill rushed to the floor by so called bi-partisan negotiators that rewarded the perpetrators on Wall Street and did nothing to help regular Americans scammed by the financial crooks and paid for on the backs of American taxpayers.

The masochistic Democratic leadership keeps getting rolled and scammed by the Republicans and continues to ask for more.  Either that or they're part of the Republican plan to keep the financial system's high flying criminals, who donate big bucks to their campaign war chests, from accountability for this disaster.

You know how bad this bill it is when that crook, Rudy Giiuliani, is lining up to feed at the taxpayers' on the hook for the bailout trough.

While the Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill ignored the many equitable plans like the Swedish model and other effective solutions offered by progressive economists; Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Rahm Emanuel, et al. decided they knew best and hitched their wagon to the head enabler of this disaster George W. Bush and his flunky Hank Paulson.

Republicans voted no for the wrong reasons. and  hurried to take credit for "saving" the American people when in reality they wanted the market to adjust itself , a typical, failed Republican policy, and offered only more deregulation which caused the problem in the first place, and wanted more tax giveaways for their corporate crony perpetrators.

Many Democrats were not happy with the compromise which did nothing to punish the perpetrators, like the weak, ineffective compensation concessions. and almost zero to help regular Americans harmed by the greed and fraud of the financial system.

This is another example of the Democratic leadership falling for Bushite Republican gimmicks and cons.  This is by far the most deliberately ignorant Democratic Congressional leadership in recent history.

They should have completely rejected the Bush-Paulson plan and created their own solution from scratch, using ideas from progressive economists and not the Rubinites.

Then, the Dem leadership should have told Bush it was his responsibility to whip his Republican Capitol Hill rubber stampers into line to pass an effective solution; otherwise Bush could go pound sand.

But, the Democratic "leaders" only made a bad situation worse and really don't have a clue how to lead or outsmart the Republican minority and that is really pathetic.  There are many activists in the Democratic Party base who could do a better, stronger, more effective job.
