So, McSame's pick for the vice presidency, Sarah Palin, plans to go into seclusion after the Republican convention.  What the heck is going on?  Republicans act as if the US is a monarchical kingdom, not a democratic republic.

 

As Political Carnival greeted the news: "Sarah Palin Going 'Into Seclusion' In Alaska After Convention"  "The headline....is what Chuck Todd just said on MSNBC. I don't know who he was talking to, but he said that she was going back to Alaska to be "in seclusion" to see her son off to the war. The day he leaves, September 11th is next Thursday, one of the many pieces of this Lifetime Movie that just seems too bizarre.

"Excuse me, who the hell does this woman think she is? Gotta and I were screaming at each other over this [Laffy Note: In agreement]. She is applying for the second most important job probably in the WHOLE DAMNED WORLD!! Get your moose eating butt out there and answer some questions lady. This is total crap.

"Not only is this insulting to America, it's damn insulting to women, mothers and mothers of soldiers. No one is begrudging you your goodbyes, but if we are going to put our children's lives in your hands, you go hug your kid and then get your ass out and tell us why we should trust you with our kids' lives.

"I'm livid.

"Laffy Note: We are both livid. This post talks about her seclusion to some degree. But to avoid the press to the degree that she has deprives voters of an honest, transparent look at what appears to be a dishonest, under qualified lightweight. Her transparency is clearly (no pun) limited to the neck up."

 

I agree.  Palin needs to answer some questions such as this from Ari Berman at The Nation:  "Can you imagine the reaction if Barack Obama courted or belonged to a political party that advocated secession from the United States?

"Conservatives and political commentators would go apoplectic. So why isn't Sarah Palin's affiliation with the far right Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) a bigger deal?

"Todd Palin was a member of the party from 1995 to 2002. Sarah attended the group's convention in 1994 and 2000 and sent a videotaped greeting for the AIP in 2008.

"Here's how the group's founder, Joe Vogler, described his political beliefs:

" 'The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,' Vogler said in a 1991 interview. And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home.'

"The AIP participated in a conference of secessionist movements held in Vermont in 2006. "The First North American Secessionist Convention," was the official title. Attendees included the neo-confederate League of the South, messianic Christian Exodus and the libertarian New State Project.

"In her 2008 address, Palin said the AIP "plays an important role in our state's politics."

"Although she's been in "virtual seclusion" the past few days, it would be nice to know exactly what "important role" Palin believes the AIP plays, in Alaska and elsewhere."
