Gonzo Gonzalez Violated Security Procedure as Attorney General
"The Justice Department inspector general, which investigated Mr. Gonzales' handling of the documents, said he kept classified material at his home and in an office safe, in violation of security procedures. The inspector general referred the matter to the Justice Department's national security division for possible criminal action, but officials there declined to prosecute Mr. Gonzales.
"Mr. Gonzales' mishandling of the classified documents adds a new embarrassment to the long list of problems that tainted his abortive tenure as attorney general. He resigned last year, after two and a half years in the job, in the face of growing criticism from lawmakers over his role in the wiretapping program and in the dismissals of nineUnited States attorneys.
"The inspector general said in its report that Mr. Gonzales had mishandled a total of 18 documents that were considered to have S.C.I. classification. The abbreviation stands for "sensitive compartmentalized information," a category even higher than "top secret."
In the end, there will be no accountability demanded nor given, a hallmark of the Shrub's administration. Alberto Gonzalez, like most members of the Bush regime, was selected and appointed for his loyalty not his experience or brains. No best and brightest in the Bush administration, just the worst and dullest which has resulted in a two term catastrophe for this country.
