Wednesday Night at the Democratic Convention

Wednesday night at the Democratic convention, there were three prime time top notch speeches with punch. President Bill Clinton was in great form and on target with his theme, that as a former president he knows that Obama is more than ready to be the president of the US as proven by his selection of Senator Joe Biden as VP; and taking the audience down memory lane by recalling that in 1992 the Republicans accused and sneered at Clinton as not being presidential material.

Then there was John Kerry's comparison of Obama, whose statements on the Iraq conflict, withdrawal timetables, talking to Iran, etc. have been proven right and McBush proven wrong and mentioning upholding the Constitution while McSame and Bush defy the Constitution by supporting torture.

Finally, Senator Joe Biden's acceptance speech which also had some memorable lines such as:  "My mother's creed is the American creed: no one is better than you. You are everyone's equal, and everyone is equal to you." and that the US influences the world by "the power of example, not the example of power."   One can forgive Biden's less than perfect delivery because of the emotion of the event.

And his son, Beau's, introduction of his father was heatfelt and hearwarming.

The evening was topped off by Barack Obama's surprise appearance with Biden and his extended family onstage.  What's not to like?
