Tuesday's Democratic Convention; the Great, the Good and the Ugly
At yesterday's Democratic convention, I thought the high points were: Dennis Kucinich's rousing "Wake Up America" speech, which told the truth about the last seven terrible Bush regime years but, unfortunately wasn't in prime time and the senatorial women's contingent who each spoke about facet of the energy crisis and solution.
Brian Schweitzer, governor of Montana's, speech had its moments and Hilliary Clinton's was also quite good, but somehow, both speeches didn't seem to have the consistent fire and passion that keeps people on their feet.
And Mark Warner as the keynote speaker was a spectacular dud. Warner, who is definitely a Republican lite corporatist, could have given the same speech with only minor adjustments at the RNC convention or a Republican dominated Chamber of Commerce gathering. It was a mistake for him to give the keynote address. He underwhelmed the crowd and actually put a damper on the speeches that followed rather than build excitement.
Meanwhile, Kucinich's speech was a tour de force of bold, clear cut reality delivered with emotion and fervor that had the delegates on their feet cheering because it was a real Democratic presentation to the Democratic crowd pounding home the failures and crimes of this Republican regime and J. Sid McBush's ambition for four more years of the same.
