McSame Plays Shill For Georgia and Promotes Another Cold War

J. Sid McSame is meddling in foreign policy to make brownie points for himself and his campaign.

He stupidly jumped into the Russia-Georgia conflict on the side of Georgia, championing the President of Georgia and claiming to talk to him daily even though he can't pronounce his name.

Now, for his latest dangerous interference in this tense situation in his zeal to create a 21st century Cold War, comes this from TPM Election Central:

"At a press conference just now, John McCain redoubled his efforts to thrust himself into a leadership role on the Russia-Georgia crisis front, announcing that two top campaign surrogates, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, are going on a visit to Georgia. McCain said:

"The situation in Georgia remains fluid and dangerous. As soon as possible my colleagues senators Lieberman and Graham will be traveling to Georgia. They're both members of the Senate Armed Services Committee. I hope that other members of the Armed Services Committee in the Senate will go together."

"Lieberman and Graham, of course, are key campaign allies of McCain. The Arizona Senator has been using Obama's absence on vacation to associate himself more directly with the Russia-Georgia war in the mind of the public.

"The idea is to showcase himself as a man of action during a time of international crisis and to remind people that the world is a dangerous place that's still filled with aggressive actors, something that the McCain camp presumably thinks will play in his favor.

"McCain's announcement of his key campaign allies' trip abroad also seems designed to shoulder Bush aside as the primary GOP leadership figure here."

And from ThinkProgress more on the conflict of interest regarding McSame's embrace of Georgia created by his top foreign policy expert, a former lobbyist for Georgia that paid him big bucks.

"The Washington Post reports today that Sen. John McCain's senior foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann may have used his position in the McCain campaign for his own financial benefit by advancing the interests of his former lobbying client, the Georgian government:

Sen. John McCain's top foreign policy adviser prepped his boss for an April 17 phone call with the president of Georgia and then helped the presumptive Republican presidential nominee prepare a strong statement of support for the fledgling republic.

The day of the call, a lobbying firm [Orion Strategies] partly owned by the adviser, Randy Scheunemann, signed a $200,000 contract to continue providing strategic advice to the Georgian government in Washington.

"The McCain campaign responded saying, "Georgia's lobbying contract with Orion Strategies had no bearing on the candidate's decision to speak with President Mikheil Saakashvili and did not influence his statement," they said.

"But there appears to be more evidence of Scheunemann using McCain for financial gain. In 2005, operating as Georgia's lobbyist, Scheunemann may have engineered McCain's nomination of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for the Nobel Peace Prize just before his contract with the Georgian government was due to expire.

"The Associated Press reports that Scheunemann and his partner, Michael Mitchell, "lobbied [McCain] or his staff on 49 occasions" bringing in "more than $800,000 to the two-man firm from 2004 to mid-2007."

And from another ThinkProgress posting, a shining example of McSame, the hypocrite, in action:

"In recent days, Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) rhetoric toward Russia has mostly been overblown bluster, including an accusation that the country wanted to restore its old empire. However, since a cease-fire was announced and his predictions were proven wrong, McCain has backtracked, saying there won’t be a Cold War. To justify his new position, he told reporters in a press conference today:

"In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations."

Sid, you stupid git, have you forgotten you supported the illegal US invasion of Iraq in this century?  Or with your hypocritical double standard you think it's only OK when the US invades another nation? You are a dishonorable, dishonest man unfit for the presidency or any public office for that matter.
