McSame Surrounds Himself With Dishonorable Rovian Campaign Sleazeballs

J. Sid McSame not only surrounds himself with integrity challenged weasel lobbyists that overflow the ranks of his campaign, he now has placed himself in the hands of members of the Bush-Rove gang of dirty, slimeball campaigners.

And Sid the Hypocrite had the audacity to blather about running a respectful campaign!

From John Aravosis at AmericaBlog: "In case you had any doubt, today's NY Times confirms that the Bush/Rove crew has taken over McCain's campaign:
Mr. McCain's campaign is now under the leadership of members of President Bush's re-election campaign, including Steve Schmidt, the czar of the Bush war room that relentlessly painted his opponent, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, as effete, elite, and equivocal through a daily blitz of sound bites and Web videos that were carefully coordinated with Mr. Bush's television advertisements.

The run of attacks against Mr. Obama over the last couple of weeks have been strikingly reminiscent of that drive, including the Bush team's tactics of seeking to make campaigns referendums on its opponents ”not a choice between two candidates” and attacking the opponent's perceived strengths head-on. Central to the latest McCain drive is an attempt to use against Mr. Obama the huge crowds and excitement he has drawn, including on his foreign trip last week, by promoting a view of him as more interested in attention and adulation than in solving the problems facing American families.
"This is "strikingly reminiscent" of the attacks on Kerry because the same people are doing it. In fairness, this line of attacks just seems more ugly and egregious -- and not too subtly racist (despite Jake Tapper thinking otherwise).

"The big questions are: 1) Will the Obama campaign respond more effectively than Kerry did. (They'd better, p.s.) And 2) Will the media actually cover the lies and distortions spewing from McCain's campaign. (The jury is still out on that one. Although some have risen to the task, many seem titillated by the brazenness of the attacks).

"The other lingering question is whether the American people will fall for this crap this time. Under the leadership of George Bush and his team (many of whom are now on McCain's campaign), the United States is in the midst of two unfinished wars, stuck in a recession, caught in a housing crisis, experiencing an energy crisis and the environment is in serious danger. The same people who brought us all that are now injecting Britney and Paris into the political debate. Wow."

And from TPMMuckraker this information about another slimy, snake oil salesman Bushite member of McSame's campaign: "We already know that in the years just before the invasion of Iraq, Randy Scheunemann, now John McCain's top foreign policy aide, was part of the circle of advisors and operatives around Ahmad Chalabi, the Iraqi exile who used bogus intelligence to sell the war. Over the last few days we've spoken to associates of Chalabi's and Scheunemann's from those years to fill out the picture of the working relationship between the two men.

"Entifadh Qanbar, who worked for Chalabi's Iraqi National Congress (INC) in Washington in 2001 and 2002, described Scheunemann to TPM as a "close friend....We exchanged thoughts, exchanged ideas. We would often meet, go for lunch." Qanbar said Scheuenemann was also very close with both Chalabi and Francis Brooke, a longtime Chalabi aide and spokesman. Qanbar said he believes it was Brooke who first connected Scheunemann to Chalabi and the INC.

"In fact, said Qanbar, Scheunemann was so friendly with the INC crowd that when the INC moved out of the shabby office space that Qanbar had found at 918 Pennsylvania Avenue SE on Capitol Hill, Qanbar suggested to Scheunemann -- who at the time was looking for a cheap spot to house his new lobbying shop, Orion Strategies -- that Scheunemann take the place over. To this day, Orion HQ is at 918 Penn (though the McCain campaign has said Scheunemann suspended his activities there earlier this year). And that was also the address Scheunemann later used for the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (CLI), the group he founded in late 2002 to gin up public support for the war."

That McSame surrounds himself with such dishonorable and dishonest campaign advisors and staffers aka dirty tricksters should tell you something about J. Sid and it ain't flattering.
