I thought the National Press Club hit a new low when it hosted Matt Drudge as a speaker a few years ago. 

Then it was headed toward the basement when I read that Jeff/James Gannon/Guckert, a conservative involved with a male escort service, outed as a male prostitute, who moonlighted as a phony reporter at the White House asking deliberately phony, friendly questions polishing turds for the White House, was one of the bloggers on the NPC web site.  (Journalists have said that it can take weeks to get the kind of clearance Gannon received. The Augusta Free Press reported that its acquisition of a single one-day pass was a two-week process.Furthermore, it was said that, highly unusually, Gannon was issued one-day press passes for nearly two years, avoiding the extensive background checks required for permanent pass.)

However, the NPC is really in the toilet hosting an Obama smearmonger who happens to also be a wanted criminal.

From ThinkProgress: "Today, notorious Obama smear-peddler Larry Sinclair will speak at the National Press Club, presumably to continue to promote unfounded lies about Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). Politico’s Ben Smith reports that Sinclair’s history “may get in the way of that pitch,” as he has a 27-year criminal record, “with a specialty in crimes involving deceit.” The charges included forgegy and stealing someone’s tax returns; Sinclair is listed as “Wanted” by the Peublo County, CO Sheriff’s Office."

National Press Club = no respect or integrity.  Probably should now be called the National Prostitute Club as in the verb: to corrupt or to misuse.
