Despite Plunging Economy, Bush Insists Tax Cuts Work
The dollar plunges below 100 yen for the first time in 12 years, oil prices are at a record high, retail sales continue to fall, the US economy, in recession, is headed down the crapper, and Dubya proves without a doubt that he is an idiot.
Addressing the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Bush said, " I think when people take a look back at this moment in our economic history, they’ll recognize tax cuts work. They have made a difference." according to ThinkProgress.
They sure have, but only for the wealthiest two percent of Americans. Just like Reagan's trickle down, supply side economics was a total disaster, the Shrub's tax cuts for the very wealthy are an integral part of the economic catastrophe Bush and his flunkies have caused in this country.
As ThinkProgress states, "Making Bush’s tax cuts permanent won’t help the U.S. economy. They would cost taxpayers $4.3 trillion over the next ten years; Bush has proposed no measures to pay for this. Furthermore, they would increase the after-tax incomes of households with incomes above $1 million by an average of 7.5 percent, compared to a 2.3 percent increase middle-income households and 0.5 percent for lowest-income households."
And this is the man inflicted upon us by the Supreme Court in 2000 and the Republican manipulation of paperless electronic voting machines in 2004.
Bush, like self-confessed John McBush McCain, is an economic moron whose disastrous presidency has caused terrible consequences for generations of Americans.
