Election Wins and A Dose Of Reality
Now that all the cheering has died down somewhat after Tuesday's elections.....congratulations to all the Democrats who won across the nation.
In Kentucky, Democratic Steve Beshear buried the Republican incumbent, formerly indicted by a grand jury Ernie Fletcher, and voters rid that state of filthy Fletcher and his scandal ridden Republican administration.
Virginia Democrats are now the majority in the state senate of a part time legislature having won four more seats. One of the defeated Republicans was the spouse of U.S. representative, Tom Davis (R-VA). With the assistance of his deep pockets full of other people's money, Mrs. Davis ran a slimy campaign and lost. Unfortunately, the Virginia House of Delegates is still controlled by fear mongering Republicans.
Now, a dose of reality. Most of Virginia's Democratic winners are not progressive Democrats but pride themselves on being "centrist," or conservative and could, in a national race, be termed Blue Dog or even Bush Democrats. While the center of the Republican Party has moved far right, the center of the road Democrats in the South have either stayed right, moved further right or become Republicans. There is still a Dixiecrat mentality among many Virginia Democratic officeholders.
As for the so called center of the Democratic Party, Jim Hightower reminds Democrats that there's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos
