Clueless in the Senate
Some Democratic senators' grasp of leadership in the Senate seems totally absent. Their sense of responsibility to American voters has eluded them, also. How else do you explain the Senate Rules Committee sending to the full Senate the nomination to the Federal Election Commission of a Republican partisan hack who was a whiz at voter suppression and lying to a Congressional committee.
What their Republican colleagues do in the Senate is similar to this sterling example of a Bush Cabinet member's responsibility to the American people. This seems to be their code of fealty:
1) loyalty to Bush
2) loyalty to the Republican Party
3) loyalty to corporations
4) loyalty to the concept "greed is good"
How about loyalty to and protection of the Constitution and accountability to the American people? Forget it.
We know that Bush and members of his administration have no integrity. It is unfortunate, however, that some Democratic senators are so clueless they continue getting pulled by the nose, kicked in the head, and outsmarted then seem to ask for more.
